What is Lavender Powder?
Lavender Powder is the ground dried flowers of Lavandula angustifolia, English Lavender, the most aromatic species in the lavender genus and a small evergreen shrub in the mint family (Lamiaceae). The powder format is convenient for baking and skin-care preparations where whole flowers are awkward.
About the plant
Lavender's instantly recognizable aroma comes chiefly from linalool and linalyl acetate; Lavandula angustifolia is prized because its oil is high in these sweet floral compounds and low in camphor. It is distinct from lavandin (Lavandula × intermedia), a hybrid with more camphor character. The dried flowers have a long documented history across European and Mediterranean tradition in tea, sachets, bath, and culinary preparations.
