What is Valerian Root Powder?

Valerian Root Powder is the finely ground dried root of Valeriana officinalis, the same root as our whole-root offering, milled to a powder. Grinding does not change what is in the root; it only changes the physical form, making the powder easier to encapsulate or to work into a preparation. Like the whole root, the powder carries valerian's famously strong, earthy aroma.

About the plant

Valeriana officinalis is a tall flowering perennial native to Europe and Northern Asia and cultivated widely. It has a documented history in Western herbalism going back more than two thousand years, and its studied constituents include valerenic acid, the valepotriates, and iridoids. The powder is the most versatile format of the root.
